Aave Freezes Markets, Then Begins a Staged Reopening

Aave froze hundreds of reserves after the Binance incident, then began reopening them with tighter borrowing and collateral controls.

Aave service providers froze 175 V3 reserves across 16 networks and 117 V4 reserves across four networks after the Binance hot-wallet incident. LlamaRisk said the action stopped new supply and borrowing while allowing repayments, withdrawals and liquidations; the exploiter’s only Aave position remained over-collateralised. By 13:49 UTC on October 30, providers had defined a four-wave rollback, reduced unused borrowing capacity and kept selected assets at zero loan-to-value or collateral factor. These were containment controls, not proof that the underlying Binance incident was fully resolved.
