DTCC Launches Tokenization Service for DTC-Custodied Securities
Eligible DTC participants can convert supported securities entitlements between traditional and tokenized forms on Canton and a private Besu network.

DTCC said its Depository Trust Company subsidiary launched the DTCC Tokenization Service on October 28. Eligible DTC participants can mint digital representations of supported DTC-custodied securities, move those entitlements to registered wallets and convert them back to traditional form. DTCC says the tokenized twins retain the ownership rights, investor protections and economic entitlements of the underlying securities.
The service starts on Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network, with other networks planned for 2027. DTCC identified 20 participants that have signed access agreements and said future users will be onboarded gradually. The launch moves the program beyond limited-production tests, but access remains restricted to eligible DTC participants and clients; it does not make every asset or public blockchain immediately available.
