Ripple's x402 Membership and Agent Spending Limits

Payment connectivity does not grant an agent an unlimited mandate.

Ripple's announcement describes joining the x402 Foundation as a Premier Member and frames reliable, fast payments as a requirement for AI agents. Membership is not evidence of completed agent transactions or a deployed payment product. An agent that can pay can repeat a mistake at machine speed. Identity, purpose, approved destinations, per-action and daily allowances, expiry and revocation therefore belong in the mandate before execution. Sponsoring transaction costs should remain separate from deciding which action is authorized.
