NEAR's Shard Strategy Adds a Recovery Dimension
Capacity growth and sandboxed agent tools create different demands on retrievable state.

NEAR emphasized adding shards rather than raising hardware requirements. The surrounding stack included confidential inference across more than forty models, developer access to Confidential Intents and unified-account access to more than fifty Hyperliquid perpetual markets outside the United States and Canada. This was a scaling and application update, not evidence of a distinct new data-availability release.
IronClaw's Gmail access through OAuth, encrypted credential storage and WebAssembly sandboxing added concrete boundaries around agent tools. Sandboxing restricts execution; encryption protects stored secrets; neither alone guarantees that an interrupted action can be reconstructed. More execution paths make durable state and clear finality more valuable, even when the content of an agent's work stays private.
