Polygon Completes 100 Million POL Burn
A successful onchain transaction completed the fee-funded burn that had previously been announced as pending.

Polygon Foundation said on September 23 that 100 million POL had been permanently burned. The linked PolygonScan transaction records a successful transfer in block 94,312,922 at 14:41:29 UTC. This is a completed execution, unlike the September 18 announcement that the tokens were ready for a burn after the new permissionless mechanism reached mainnet.
The amount is about 1% of POL’s original 10 billion-token base. Polygon says the tokens accumulated from transaction base fees rather than a discretionary treasury purchase. The event verifies the first large execution of the mechanism; it does not by itself establish a permanently deflationary supply path or a price effect. Future supply depends on both recurring burns and continuing issuance.
