A First Metadata Draft Gives Card NFTs a Shared Vocabulary

Background: The internal league showed the team how cards are used in matches, so the studio has begun considering how to describe cards if they become NFTs. Today: At the meeting, the first draft of a metadata standard for card NFTs was completed. Impact and next: Compared with earlier discussion limited to the NFT format, this work began to settle on field conventions that collaborators can use, giving design and engineering a common reference.

A creative chronicle combining project history with imagined scenes. Story events are not verification of network activity.

Background: The internal league showed the team how cards are used in matches, so the studio has begun considering how to describe cards if they become NFTs. The practical question at the meeting was this: if players are eventually to identify and inspect a card, which metadata fields need to be defined first?

Today: At the meeting, the first draft of a metadata standard for card NFTs was completed. The team organized card identity and descriptive information into an initial specification for later design and implementation discussions. The draft gives everyone a shared starting point for describing a card, but it does not mean any NFTs have been issued.

Impact and next: Compared with earlier discussion limited to the NFT format, this work began to settle on field conventions that collaborators can use, giving design and engineering a common reference. The document is still a first draft; the team must continue reviewing whether the fields are sufficient and how they map to in-game cards.
