A creative chronicle combining project history with imagined scenes. Story events are not verification of network activity.
Background: The weekend after the selloff was ending. Casual chat had not recovered, though people were still arranging matches in the battle channel. As a longtime member, the Night Watchman often put such small signs of activity in his weekly notes.
Today: He wrote, "Bear market, day N: the pigeons are still flying." Partway through, he wondered whether to mention how quiet the channel had become. He chose to record both sides: some people did not feel like talking, while others were earnestly discussing the cards played in their last match. After posting, he asked players to point out rules they found hard to understand next time.
Impact and next steps: The note made room for both silence and persistence without treating a handful of active players as proof of a wider recovery. The Night Watchman planned to keep listening to how players described obstacles and pass that on to the operations team. If newcomers still struggled with the rules, veteran players could not guide them indefinitely by patience alone.
