A Former Member Asks Whether the Nodes Still Run

The day after XAI’s all-time low, the price moved sideways near $0.0067. People in the group had grown used to the Night Watchman’s reports that his node was online, but few asked whether those who had left still followed the chain.
Late at night, a former member who had been silent for a long time suddenly wrote, “So people are still here.” He had joined through the 2024 airdrop and sold his holdings last year. A few minutes later, he asked, “Are the nodes still running?” The Night Watchman answered, “Yeah.” The former member said nothing more. The Night Watchman did not ask whether he was coming back; he deleted the long explanation he had started to type.
The awkwardly brief exchange did not bring the former member back. It made the Night Watchman realize that people who left might not know who was still maintaining the network. He decided that the next time someone asked, he would first explain that the nodes were still running, then listen for what they actually wanted to know. Whether this former member spoke again was his decision.
