Xai Explains Rewards Lost to Slower Assertion Timing
A planned node upgrade slowed assertion publication without halting the chain, reducing challenge frequency and near-term Sentry rewards.

Xai's July 12 postmortem said an Offchain Labs node upgrade on July 3 slowed the normal assertion cadence. The chain remained live and secure, but Sentry challenges followed the slower cadence, so operators received fewer reward opportunities during the affected period.
The team committed to advance monitoring and planned to redesign challenges so reward opportunities would be less dependent on assertion timing. The incident made reward continuity a separate operational concern from keeping the chain live.
