As the first half of the year ended, the market collapse and frozen funding had reshaped the studio’s budget. The narrator and another co-founder went to a digital collectibles conference in New York, hoping to hear how community members on the other side of their screens now viewed the game.

BTC closed at USD 19,800, and its 56% fall in Q2 set a record. The narrator and the other co-founder spent the day at the conference and met several community members they had previously known only from messages in the group. Some talked about cards; others asked directly whether the studio could keep going. The definite answer they could give was that the studio was still operating and had made no layoffs.

Meeting in person put faces to names from the group and let the team hear players’ worries about continued development. Keeping the staff gave production room to carry on, but it could not replace clear progress on the game. The narrator planned to bring those questions back to the studio. Delivering something playable in the second half of the year on a tighter budget remained the immediate challenge.
