What Would Make a Home Computer Useful as a Node?

After Xai's announcement, the chain team was turning an internal prototype for running a node on a home computer into a design it could debate. The first closed meeting on the node economic model asked how home computers could play a useful part. The meeting turned the node from a technical possibility shown in a demo into a product question about costs and incentives.

A creative chronicle combining project history with imagined scenes. Story events are not verification of network activity.

After Xai's announcement, the chain team was turning an internal prototype for running a node on a home computer into a design it could debate. A-Zhen, an early engineer, cared not only whether someone could start the software but also whether an ordinary user would understand the commitment involved.

The first closed meeting on the node economic model asked how home computers could play a useful part. Discussion moved from whether such devices could participate to how their contribution should be counted. A-Zhen argued that an explanation focused only on rewards, without the burden of keeping a node running, would mislead people however easy the prototype felt. The meeting carried those questions forward rather than settling a reward formula that day.

The meeting turned the node from a technical possibility shown in a demo into a product question about costs and incentives. A-Zhen planned to spell out the installation steps and ongoing operating requirements for an ordinary computer before the next discussion. The work assigned to home devices and the distribution of rewards were still undecided.
