In response to a question about trying a Sentry node for free, a Xai admin distinguished running the software from accruing rewards. The reply said anyone could download, install and run it, but accruing rewards required purchasing at least one Sentry License Key. Claiming accrued rewards required passing a KYC check confirming that the purchaser was not in the USA and was not subject to OFAC sanctions.

The admin also said that nodes which were not running or lacked sufficient funds for gas fees would accrue no rewards, even if they had a license key. The stated operating conditions were to keep nodes funded, online and running.
