Blocks Continue Amid a Global Blue Screen

A creative chronicle combining project history with imagined scenes. Story events are not verification of network activity.

Background: Microsoft's global blue screen incident disrupted half the internet. In the Xai community, some worried that an inaccessible page meant the chain itself had stopped. As a node operator, the Night Watchman needed to distinguish those problems.

Today: Blocks continued to be produced onchain. The Night Watchman did not use that fact to dismiss requests for help. He asked people to specify whether their device had crashed, a page would not load, or an onchain transaction had yet to be confirmed. “The chain is running” could not answer every case.

Impact and next steps: The day left the community with a more careful way to explain what was happening. Normal block production answered whether the chain was operating; it did not solve each person's access problem. The Night Watchman planned to gather specific error reports before directing people toward the right help.
