Background: The community had just seen an impressive weekly onchain report, but was still looking for a way for unfamiliar players to find an actual game. Riftstorm arrived on Steam today, and the team wanted play to extend beyond a download.

Today: Riftstorm launched on Steam for a two week public beta. The team also opened a community speedrun leaderboard: teams of three would tackle the challenge tower, and each of the top ten teams would receive USD 300. Some players began finding teammates; others first asked how times and rankings would be checked. Meanwhile, onchain transfer counts stayed steady, and XAI's price did not rise in step with this new setting for play.

Impact and next steps: For the first time, one of the chain's own games could be downloaded by strangers through someone else's store. Players could encounter the game before learning about the chain behind it. The leaderboard gave testers a reason to try again; whether they would stay after the beta, and whether this would narrow the gap between use and price, remained open.
