The Night Watchman’s warning meets resistance

The rally from earlier in the month had faded, but some in the group still read every pause in the decline as the start of another climb. The Night Watchman said, “A rebound is a chance to get out.” The uncomfortable exchange produced no agreement, but it showed him how easily a sharp warning could hide its reasoning.

The rally from earlier in the month had faded, but some in the group still read every pause in the decline as the start of another climb. As a longtime community member, the Night Watchman was often asked whether it was worth waiting. He worried that easy optimism would leave the unlock schedule and supply questions out of view.

The Night Watchman said, “A rebound is a chance to get out.” Few wanted to hear it; one member thought he was calling the market's direction too early. He did not present the line as a trading instruction. Instead, he explained his caution: buybacks were continuing, but unlock pressure remained, and a rebound alone could not settle how long someone should hold or what risk they could bear.

The uncomfortable exchange produced no agreement, but it showed him how easily a sharp warning could hide its reasoning. Next time someone asked, he planned to explain the basis for his view first and leave the decision to them. The next price move was unknown, and his disagreement with the more hopeful members remained.
