Making Room to Watch the Node

The Night Watchman was a longtime community member who operated a node. Recently, the group had repeatedly discussed the price and whether the project would survive. He kept an eye on those messages while running his node, so even cleaning the balcony was broken into short stretches by notifications.
He tidied the balcony and moved his laptop where it would not be in the way; the node kept running throughout. As he moved things, he realized he gave ordinary group chat and node alerts that might need immediate action the same quick glance. After sweeping away dust, he would go straight back to the screen. He decided to sort out which alerts required attention at once and which discussions could wait until he had finished what he was doing.
The balcony had more room and the node continued to run. The more lasting change was his decision to set boundaries around his attention instead of letting every message interrupt his watch. Next he would write a short checklist for himself. He still needed to learn through daily operation which alerts truly justified getting up immediately.
