At 580,000 Transactions, a Million Becomes the Test

In the Odyssey's final stretch, tasks reset every day and avatars could be minted again, sending fresh activity through the testnet. The testnet reached 580,000 transactions in a day, as daily records kept falling. The 580,000 transactions showed that daily resets were putting pressure on the testnet; one million was still some distance away.

In the Odyssey's final stretch, tasks reset every day and avatars could be minted again, sending fresh activity through the testnet. As an engineer working on the chain, A-Zhen cared about more than the transaction count: she also wanted participants to be able to finish their tasks when activity peaked.

The testnet reached 580,000 transactions in a day, as daily records kept falling. Officials publicly challenged themselves: could it reach one million in a day? Someone in the group spoke of the target as though it were nearly an achieved result. A-Zhen instead wrote it down as a question to test and planned to watch task completion and reports of congestion.

The 580,000 transactions showed that daily resets were putting pressure on the testnet; one million was still some distance away. A-Zhen planned to consider player slowdowns alongside transaction volume, rather than watch the record alone. Whether the experience would stay smooth under heavier load remained to be seen.
